On a recent trip to our teak root furniture supplier in East Java, we had the opportunity to observe and document the processes for storing and creating reclaimed teak wood furniture. Discarded Teak roots are reclaimed and recovered to create unique designs for small accessories, lamps, side tables, consoles, and coffee tables.
These raw materials are acquired through sustainable, local resources governed under the SVLK standards. In partnership with the Indonesian government and the demands from international buyers, the SVLK approach provides transparency, thus creating trust and ecological benefits for both people and the planet.

During current shelter-in-place restrictions, many of us might be keeping busy on indoor home projects or a patio refresh. It's no surprise that the latest Wayfair study indicates that searches for rattan garden furniture are up 401% year-over-year, while searches for patio seating are up 171% and outdoor seating groups are up 30%.
With sustainability statement pieces in high demand, we've geared up our rattan and natural pieces selections for 2020. Our latest collection offers clean, classic and Scandi-modern styles in eco-friendly rattan and bamboo materials.

Velvet is associated with many eras and styles … think of the luxurious bed curtains that ensconced royalty during the Renaissance. Or, ’60s-era velvet jackets worn by Jimi Hendrix and Mick Jagger. There’s even the decadent dessert, Red Velvet cake.

Visualize the post-war era between the 40's and 60's when most Mid-Century experts indicate the beginning of this movement. That period is when the Boomers' lifestyle created a demand for suburban modern tract homes as they established their nuclear families.
The new post-war architecture brought about uncluttered geometric lines that emphasized simplicity and utility due to limited resources. The idea was to integrate an open space setting by using natural lighting (e.g. windows around the house) and an easy indoor/outdoor transition that's exemplified in Eichler-style homes. These distinct architectural elements inspired an innovative furniture style that's called Mid-Century (Mid-Mod, Modernism, Post-Modern).
